Frozen 2: Elsa's a Lesbian Icon

Elsa of Arendelle got spunk

Elsa is the true snow queen who turns anything she wants into ice. Recently we got Disney+ and there's lots of content for my Disney desires. We may not be able to go to Disneyland but we can go down the Disney rabbit hole online. Eventually, I land on Frozen because it checks all my happy boxes. It's a musical with icy sculpture graphics. And the lead voice over for Elsa is a Broadway singer: 'Idinia Menzel.' She won awards for the hit song 'Let it Go.' She's praised for her vocal performances and maybe the gay card since she doesn't need a man.

The snow queen was originally a villain

Having her as the villain proved to be an unpopular script. People are tired of the evil queens, what they want is for the queens to come out of the closet. Elsa and Anna's sisterly bond is the best part. Having two positive leading ladies elevates cinema. It pushes the narrative of what it means to be a princess. She doesn't need a prince to save her and since her parents died she rises from the loss and becomes a strong person. Her powers are her biggest asset. One thing I wonder is why the sister doesn't get to be a witch?

Walt Disney was working on this since 1937

Again with the "Snow Queen" theme which it is based off of. The original fairy tale was a Christian Anderson fairy-tale. Since Walt passed in the 60's his adaption wouldn't stick in the 21st century. Hence the possibility of having a lesbian character. Would Disney dare to dream to put a queer in a blockbuster? Not yet but there have been other subtly gay characters throughout the years like: Ursula (Little Mermaid), Scar, Timon and Pumbaa (Lion King), Lefou, Cogsworth and Lumiere (Beauty and the Beast), Ken ( Toy Story 3) and of course our girl Elsa. It appears LGBTQ is speculated here. Walt would of been cool with it.
